Producing A Web Series: Part 1

Posted on at

Let me tell you producing a web series has its own set of ups and downs.  It's frustrating and rewarding.  Using Sex 101 With Coach Geetz as an example.  I feel the writing is pretty strong and the acting has gotten better. This project is like taking every class in film school and shaking it up in a bottle and dumping it out. Parts of it run everywhere, while others stay right on the table.

I do love knowing as it grows it will get smoother. There's a lot in store for Coach Geetz as his life is shared with you.

So you the reader must be sitting there saying, "Ray, are just self promoting the show again?"  While by outward appearances, absolutely. However, dig a little deeper, as I get further into the episodes and learn how to tell this story better each week. Look into how the show is executed.  Film Annex doesn't want me to give spoilers so please hang in there as I manipulate this rule and still keep the mystery.

It's done with one camera and uses a tight close up.  My goal with this is to keep the intimacy between you the viewer and this train wreck of a character.   Hopefully this makes you feel the need to care for Coach.  Another goal is to connect with you as if his situation could happen to you.  The final goal at this point is get you to laugh.

Hopefully you'll follow this portion of my blog as well as the show.  This particular portion of my blog will run as long as Sex 101 With Coach Geetz does.  The good news here is the show's first season will run 6 Episodes.  It will then go through some retooling before the beginning of the second season. That is tentatively scheduled to start in September.
