Mount Everest

History of Name:

the himalaya is the sansikrat word . it is the combination of two words , hima (snow) and alya(dwelling) . its meaning is the abode of the snow , which means the place where snow dewells..

History of the range:

Earth is made of many big plates , and when any two of them collide with each other then some mountain range forms which can be of any length depending upon the impact and strength of collision. The same case is with himalyas , it was lifted by the collision of indian plate and eurasian plate. The himalayan range is somewhat 2400 meters in length and stretched through 5 big countries which are india , china , bhutan , pakistan and nepal while major portion is own by india, nepal , bhutan . This range is the home to worlds highest peaks including Mount-Everst (the highest peak of the world ) , K2(2nd highest ) and Nangaparbat (9th highest ) . Also this is the home to some 100   7000+ Meters peaks !! the most in any range and the highest too , you can imagine the might of this range by considering other ranges , the other mountain ranges of the world is nothing in front of mighty himalayas , i am saying this because the highest peak outside the himalayan range is only 6981 meters . As this range is the home to some Worlds largest glaciers , so melting of these give birth to three mighty rivers , names of which are indus, ganges ,  tsangpo-bhamaputra .

EcoLOgy of the region:

As the climate in the hiamalayan range varies from moderately cold to extreme cold so the flaura( plant life ) and fana(animal life ) varies too. As this region is always under heavy rainfall and snowfall so its a habitat of many plants and animals which do live in cold conditions. From typical leopard , tigers monkeys and oaks on lower altitude to snow leopard , snow bears lives on high altitude.

Hydrology of the himalayas:

Himalayas are the 3rd largest deposit of snow in the world . This range is the home to some 15000 thousand glaciers the examples of some of which ara baltoro glacier, biafo , siachin and hispar. The presence of the glaciers means the reservoir of the water , so from himalayas some of the largest rivers emerge like indus , ganges and tsangpo-bhamaputra. The indus river starts from tibet and make its way to the arabian sea via India and Pakistan. The ganges river starts from Uttarkhand in india . The tsangpo river starts from mount kailash.

Scenic lakes of the region:

Lakes are formed when some glaciers or ice on the mountain melts and its water start gathering at some point. As the himalayas are home to thousands of glaciers and hundreds of peaks so here we can also find some of the most beutiful lakes of the world. Most of the lakes are present at the altitude below 5000 meters . Some of the famous lakes of the region which lies in Pakistan are , saifulmalook , ansoo , lulusar in naran and rush lake , snow lake etc in gilgit baltistan.

Culture and beliefs:

The himalyan range is the home to some 600 million people. Most of them are budhist residing in tibet , china , bhutan and nepal , hinduism is also a common religion of the region , most of the mountains of the range are very sacred to budhists as well as hindus. Sikhs and muslims also do reside in some parts of it.

This is my first blog dear bitlanders hope you like it. will write more about himalayas soon in sha allah
