Suggestion by oncologists of our country.

The most three common cancers in India which take maximum lives in the country every year are breast, cervical and oral cancers. A panel of oncologists has prescribed an early detection guide on top three cancers. For early detection of breast cancer, the panel has suggested regular mammography every two years for post- menopausal or over-50 women mammography for over-40 women with suspicious signs or symptoms or family history of breast cancer and regular clinical breast examination in over-40 women. For cervix cancer, the panel has suggested HPV DNA testing or pap smear for over-30 women who can afford it visual inspection with acetic acid in women between 30 and 49 in resource-poor settings or where facilities for pap smear or HPV DNA testing are unavailable. For oral cancer, they have suggested counseling of high-risk individuals to stop tobacco use and excessive drinking and oral visual examinations of all high-risk individuals like users of tobacco, alcohol, betel nut between 30 and 60 once in three years. We hope their mission be successful to make the country fight the dreaded disease.
