To become productive and live a meaningful life is to become self-dependent. Always think of how to contribute meaningfully to yourself, your family, the society and the world at large. You owe no one self-reliance; you owe it to yourself to become self-dependent.
Honestly, always depending on people makes you a pest. Depend on people only for medical, physical or being amputated reasons where you can fend for yourself. Becoming self-dependent is the key to living a successful life.

Mingle with like-minded people around Nigeria
The people around you make you or break you! Unfortunately, Nigeria as a society has many people that would at a glance break you! There's a solution to this particular problem thus; mingling with likeminded people in Nigeria.
Surround yourself with like-minded people helps in increasing your chances of becoming self-dependent. This I must confess is very hard, but not impossible. I just found my footing, am now mingling with the right people in my life, they always advise me to be consistent. eg Sharon-Lopez.
There is no practical way or a canonized method generally accepted that must be obeyed for knowing likeminded people in the journey of life. You just know!
The right people may possess some qualities, like their desperation to know how you are progressing towards achieving your goals. Likeminded people are always there encouraging, helping you to realize your goals and aspiration without hindering. They always provide support by words, attitude and never sabotaging your efforts.
Just like in a relationship, the right person for you will not hold you back, nor would they want to change your good behaviour and attitudes. They just love you unconditionally.
Learning & Mastering high paying skills
First, you nurture the idea of self-dependent, then you mingle with people that are like-minded, and now to remain with them, you need the skills that will pay your bills. The basics for self-dependent means having to meet ends by yourself.
