The Jokhang Temple

 

The Jokhang Temple is a four-story timber mind boggling with a plated top arranged in the heart of Lhasa. It is the holiest site in Tibetan Buddhism and is the spot where the functions of launch for the Dalai Lama and Panchen Llamas are held.constructed in 647 by the first leader of a brought together Tibet, King Songtsen Gampo (617-49), its motivation was to house a holy picture of the Buddha, the Jowo Rinpoche which was brought to Lhasa by Queen Wengcheng the second wife of the King from China as a share. This statue is still revered inside the sanctuary and is the holiest question in Tibet.the sanctuary has been routinely extended throughout the years, and experienced broad reproduction in the seventeenth century under the fifth Dalai Lama, albeit a significant part of the focal piece of the sanctuary is unique, dating from the seventh century.

 

Today, Jokhang Temple is interested in explorers and travelers yet deliberately controlled by the Chinese government as since 1951 and the Chinese occupation, the Temple has turned into the center of Tibetan social character and resistance.covering a territory of around 25,000 square meters, Jokhang Temple comprises of four stories which consolidate nearby Tibetan design components with impacts from Nepal, India and the Tang Dynasty of China.the outer surface of the sanctuary is enhanced with deer and wheel themes.
