The number (39) curse in Afghanistan

Posted on at

The trend of number 39 is widespread amongst Afghans.i dont know whats the meaning of it but when you drive around the city with a 39 registration ,you will be looked at very curiosly by every one. This makes me feel dishearted on the mentality of Afghans. There are various theories surrounding here but no body knows the exact cause of this number.

You cant get a simcard with a number 39 ,you cant but a car with a number 39 ,you cant buy or hire an office with a number 39,i mean to say in every aspect of ur life you have to be very carefull with the number 39.A friend of mine bought a car with 39 registration for $4000 while the exact cost was $5500 and he has to sell it coz people used to shout at him and call him a 39.Once i got a message to collect money from a well know money exchanger and the office number was 39 but i kept on looking for more than an hour but couldnt find the office so i had to ask some one that where is this number 39 office and he looked with a smiling face and said dont u understand what 39 means and said this guy has changes his office number to 41,i was amazed with the way that Guy smiled and shown me the correct place.

The main story that i have heard from different people is that 39 number is called a pimp and when you have 39 as the first number of ur car registration then your working hours are the morning time,in the middle you are an afternoon worker and at the end is when you works at night. The Afghan government took in to action and imposed a penalty of 6 months if some one is caught using the number 39 to car drivers. The abusive language in Kabul is 39 and furthermore you have to wait for months to get your car registration when the 39 number starts because no body wants the 39 number and the trend goes on.

My blog is to spread awareness among local Afghans to stop the trend and move on with their work.We need to take our nation forward but we have got plenty of time to call each other 39.If someone is getting frustrated with being called a 39 so go and complain in your local police station.
