The state of Assam in India is on red alert.

In a series of coordinated terror attacks that took place within a space of an hour in the Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts of Assam on Tuesday, at least 55 people had been killed among whom 20 were children. Altogether there were five such attacks. The victims were mostly tribals who were workers in the adjoining tea gardens. The death toll may rise further as many are critically wounded. The needle of finger is towards the Bodo militants.  According to police sources, the attack might be motivated to teach the tribals a lesson as the tribal communities are often accused by the Bodo militants to help the security forces who had recently conducted many crackdown operations against the group  However, curfew has been imposed in the affected parts of the state and a red alert has been raised as a whole.
