Today- it is the Janmashtami.

The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated each year on the Ashtami meaning eighth day of the Krishna Paksha meaning dark fortnight of the month of Shravana in the Hindu calendar which corresponds to the span of August–September in the English calendar. So, in this calculation, today is the Janmashtami. The festival is celebrated all over India and even abroad by re-creating the flirtatious aspects of Krishna's youthful days and the God's playful and mischievous side in colourful ways.
