Unprecedented water crisis in Rajasthan.

Posted on at

The water crisis in the desert state of Rajasthan in India goes sinking further as the summer peaks. It is learnt that 13,500 villages in the desert state do not have access to safe drinking water and at present they have been surviving solely at the mercy of water tankers sent by the government. The irony of fate is that Rajasthan has the country's 10 per cent land mass but only 1.1 per cent surface water making it almost completely dependent on ground water which is fast depleting. Moreover, most of the ground water sources either contain high levels of salt or fluoride. Thus the situation is sure to go worse in the coming future unless precautionary steps are taken immediately.
