WHALE WATCHING

Posted on at

Whale watching here in Cebu City Philippines is one of the most visited place when going to a South bound trip in Cebu province. This is located in Oslob Cebu - a 3 hour ride from the heart of the city with a fare of P155.00 for aircon bus. From the city you need to go to South Bust Terminal and ride a yellow bus or the Ceres bus that is bound to Oslob Bato via Liloan and inform in advance the conductor to drop you off at Tan-awan or just simply say at Whale Shark watching.

You can easily identify the place because it's just along the highway aside from the signage or you can simply ask any bystanders or people that you can see once alighted from the bus. Once you're in the vicinity you need to register and pay certain fees of P300.00 for local tourists with life jacket and whale watching only in the boat, no swimming. If you want to go snorkeling and swimming with the  whale -- you can! Just pay P500.00 inclusive of life jacket. But with foreign tourists, they need to pay P1,000.00 with life jacket, snorkeling and swimming with the whale sharks. After paying the fees there's a briefing of the do's and don'ts of whale watching. The said fees are good for 30 minutes only and you should be early in the place since the whale watching is available only from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Once done briefing, off you go to where the whales can be seen.

We waited for less than a minute when "Manong" the boatman informed us that the whale is there already. Manong then took us nearer to the whale so we can have a nice glance of the sea creature.

The whales were feed by the man on the boat (the legs that are seen). In that way, the whale followed him where ever he may go. I was frightened when I saw the whale opened his mouth. I was not expecting that it was that wide--wide enough to swallow a whole human being.

It was a great experience for me since it's my first time to see a whale plus got the chance to swim with them; scary though but it's worth the experience.
