Women are still fighting for equality when it comes to the world of sports. Since Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, men have dominated the sports scene. The good news is that women are making their mark in the leagues, on the turf, and on the track. As teams open up and allow women to show what they are made of, the sporting arena will continue to grow and become a beacon of change. Below are a few of the one has to watch and they create the opportunity for women to compete with their male rivals.

•  Pam Reed became the first woman to win the Badwater Ultra-Marathon in 2002, which is a dogged 130-mile race through the desert. She later became the first woman to run a 300-mile race with no sleep.
