URSONE 64, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2011 with his family at his side. He was born January 20, 1947, the son of the late Frank L. Ursone and Mildred (Mickey) Gerardi Ursone. Mr. Ursone was a graduate of Sacred Heart University and Fairfield University. He was a math teacher in the Stamford Public Schools, teaching at both Burdick Middle School and Westhill High School. He retired after 31 years of service with the school system. One of Vincent's passions was Judo in which he held a 5th Degree Black Belt. He participated and taught the sport for many years. He coordinated many Judo tournaments in the area and attended many tournaments with his students. He was a member of the Connecticut Athletic Union and served as the Treasurer of the Judo Committee. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of both the Samurai Judo Club and the New York Judo Athletic Club. He was director of the 1981 US Open Judo Championships in International Judo Competition. He instructed Judo at Greenwich High School, Roxbury Community Center and Westhill High School. Amin Beydoun, 87, a member of the NYAC Judo Club for over 30 years. Sensei Yonah Melnik, bottom row - third from left, gave a clinic on June 29th. Yonah Melnik (7th Dan) won 14 National Championships and participated in 10 European and 2 World Championships. He took part in the Olympic Games in Montreal and was a member of the Olympic team in the Moscow Olympics, in which Israel did not compete following the boycott. He was champion of the Maccabiah Games in 1973 and 1977. His achievements include winning several medals in international competitions.
