A review on Innoport, a hosted PBX provider

What is VIRTUAL PBX?

If you searched the web for virtual PBX providers, there would surely be numerous search results. Each provider has its own pros and cons but each one will certainly provide common PBX features like Voicemail to Email, Voicemail to FTP, AA (Auto-Attendant), Call Queuing, etc…

Some may offer better, in terms of service, some in terms of pricing. To know these, one has to do some relatively extensive research about reviews and user opinions about that certain provider.

Anyway, Virtual PBX provider Innoport caught my attention while doing some research on different communication service providers.

The site’s opening page is neatly arranged and shows four main sections: Hosted PBX, Online Fax, Voicemail, and Secure Instant Messaging.

Basing from the website’s information, the provider’s IM utilizes SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.

For those who are not aware, SSL is one security protocol widely used in cyberspace. Naturally, there are still many website security protocols to choose from, but Innoport seemingly chose SSL to avoid online eavesdropping and tampering.

It also appears that unlike any other instant messaging program or features that require downloading and installing the application – Innoport secure IM, is a web based application and readily available to any members provided the he/she is approved by the account administrator to use the service. Obviously, this is for added security and control.

With the One Number Service, Innoport allows all voice and fax communications of their customers to be joined under one number. With this unified communications package, the following tasks are possible:

  • receive voice calls and faxes
  • onverts fax and voicemail to email
  • routes and forward calls
  • handles AA (auto-attendant) settings

As for Innoport’s voicemail feature, it can be listened by either phone or computer. There is even an option to receive up to 60 minutes of voicemail via FTP and 4-minute length through email.

Disadvantages and Limitations of Innoport –

Lastly, research shows that the provider does not offer conference calling which can be an important feature for some clients - especially those who are in the business sector.

Additionally, subscribers that already has an existing number/s apparently wouldn’t be able to port or migrate said numbers to the service.
