Aogashima island - living Inside The Volcano

Aogashima is a tropical volcanic island in the Philippine Sea, which is administered by Tokyo despite being located approximately 358 kilometers south of Tokyo. Looking almost like a Jurassic Park-like natural fortress, the volcanic island is known as a caldera. Located in the Kuroshio region of open seas and known for tidal wave generation, this island is barely reachable except by boat. The island has no real harbor to anchor boats due to the steep rugged cliffs of layered volcanic deposits that surrounds the entire island. This is why Aogashima is still a rarely visited island. All you can do here is enjoy the serenity of a tropical paradise.

Aogashima is the smallest village in Japan. The folklore songs that people sing here are mostly about stories of leaving the island and parting with their loved ones. Entertainment here is the fantastic starry nights. People go to camp out on the second caldera. Otherwise, there is plenty of fishing, hiking trails and shrines to see. And the internet is probably shoddy so it is the perfect place to unplug, so to all those searching for peace, this is the perfect place to land onto.
