The Diu Fort

 

The Diu Fort, is spotted on the west shore of India in Diu, an Union Territory, controlled by the Government of India. The fortification was assembled by the Portuguese amid their pilgrim principle of the Diu island. The Diu town is placed to the west of the fortification. Before the Portuguese constructed the stronghold at Diu in 1535, the old history of the spot was joined to a few Kings and Dynasties; the soonest cited is of the Puranic period, took after by the Mauryans, the Kshatrapas from the first century to 415 BC, Guptas from 415 BC to 467 BC, by the Maitrakas from 470 BC to 788 BC, by Chavda tradition of Gujarat and Saurashtra from 789 BC to 941 BC, by the Chalukyas and the last was that of the Portuguese pioneer standard till Diu was taken, alongside Goa and Daman, by the Government of India on 19 December 1961. Sultan Shah Bahadur of Gujarat had possessed the Diu island in 1330 AD. Some protection fortresses were fabricated amid his standard and of prior Muslims rulers yet the same were decimated by the Portuguese when they assembled the new post. The post is effortlessly available from the terrain from the town of Ghoghla in the east or from Veraval or Somnath in the west. It is generally associated by streets with rest of the nation.
