CREATE - developing the idea

Posted on at

CREATE, the short story about a young boy's imagination and need to create, was my thesis film while I was attending Savannah College of Art and Design.  It was completed primarily in 6 months, from late 2010 to May 2011.

I got the idea on my flight back to school after working on the TV show Robot Chicken for the summer.  There definitely must be some connection between the Robot Chicken mad scientist and my G-version of a mad scientist.

I always loved Calvin and Hobbes and the tv show Rugrats, where they explored the mind of a child and where their imagination took them.  My big focus for my film was to match the imagination and real world exactly.  Creating two identical and yet opposite sets, and cutting between them mid-shot.

A comparison of the two worlds, from storyboard to stills from the film.

These can me fun to flip back and forth between, one of these days I should just make a gif of them...
