Feature Film Idea

Genre – Zombie / Thriller

Concept – The story is told from the point of view of a girl who is living with a collection of survivors in a large old Victorian house in the country. It has been six months since the outbreak started and the survivors are held up in an old Victorian house.

We watch as the relationships between the characters start to crumble. In a world where people go back to basics and everything that they knew is taken away what will happen. As the terrifying signs of isolations begin to take their toll on the characters they begin to take it out on each other.

Sarah listens from her room at night to the arguments coming from next door, every night they seem to become more violent. The tensions are running higher everyday in the house; she notices the way people look at her. How long before something happens to her!

Sarah watches the dead through the window. They do not shout or fight, but instead just slump about in groups of two or three. Sara wonders whether she would be safer out their amongst them.

As the events in the house reach a climax with an almost primitive instinct taking over, Sarah must fight for her life.

Two possibilities

1st Sarah purposely becomes infected to kill the rest of the people left in an act of revenge. She does this because throughout the film, from watching the dead she discovers that they are in fact far less violent than we were, this is nature doing what must be done. Almost like hitting the reset button on humanity and sending us back to basics.

2nd She escapes but leaves the door open for the dead to finish everyone off

The final scene will all be shot slow motion from either the point Sarah leaves the house or turns. Signifying the change in her.

Diary Entry – 12th November 2014

I found this old diary in the basement, it was wrapped in a light purple wrapping paper with little tiny rocking horses printed across in a horizontal pattern. I imagine it was for a little girl, I wonder where she is now, if she made it!

My name is Sarah, it has been six months since the outbreak was first reported. It started out as rumors on Facebook, videos on YouTube! We thought it was a joke; the news covered it up as just random attacks! Three weeks after it was first reported marshal law was declared, they were shooting people in the streets and burning masses of body’s in sections of the city. But they couldn’t stop it.

For every one of them they killed it felt like two more turned up. They were slow, but they seemed to move together. They were us but not! One of the last things the news said before they went off the air is that the bodies of the recently dead were returning to life. People said it was the government, but I don’t think so. It was happening all over the world, I think sometimes it just helps people to find someone to blame! If we caused it maybe we could stop it. But we couldn’t!

After a month people fled the city’s it wasn’t safe, it was two hard to tell us from them. There were twelve of us when we found the house. We have spent over a month traveling two and from the city getting supplies and reinforcing the house! Once we shut the doors the plan was to never open them, try and wait out the virus. If the people were dead maybe eventually they would fade away to dust.

We have been inside for 3 months; there are six of us left! We stay quite and black out the house at night. I don’t know if anyone will come for us? I don’t know why we stay? People are not the same anymore, in a world with no rules, there are no consequences! I don’t know who’s worse anymore, us or them!
