FLOOD OF JAMMU & KASHMIR

In September 2014, Jammu and Kashmir State of India has seen the worst flood of past 60 years. The flood in Jammu and Kashmir is very severe and steadily worsening. Nearly 175 people have died and around lacs of people are trapped. Authorities have rescued nearby 10,000 people so far in a major rescue operation by the Indian Army. The Jhelum River has crossed its embankment in numerous parts of Srinagar. As a result, most of the areas are flooded. Bandipur, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi are the regions, which are badly affected by the floods. According to the rescue team the J&K national highway will take about four to five days to be restored. The Government of India and Pakistan have offered to help each other in efforts to ease flood chaos in Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir, which was also known as the paradise of India, is now converted into a Disaster. From the past 48 hours, phone connectivity is collapsed in Jammu and Kashmir. Still the rescue team is working hard to save the people as the rain has stopped. According to the climatologist, there will be no rain for the next three days in some part of Jammu and Kashmir.
