Highly Pretentious Reading of Books I Have Actually Read

Posted on at

I thought I would ask a question. What is or are the most pretentious book or books you have read?

I have a few I can hold my hand up to.

At school, in the sixth form I was the person who actually read "Malthus Essay on the Theory of Population" from cover to cover, along with the better known "War and Peace."

I also read a huge tome called "Being and Nothingness" by Jean Paul Satre and thought that made me an existentialist.

I can hold my hand up to reading all of these in a desire to be "clever," but it didn't work because nobody I knew actually had a clue what I was on about or had also read any of these books. They did look impressive on the shelf though and I would probably read "War and Peace" again if I had time.
