Indo – Pak War (1965)

 

The Indo-Pak war of 1965 is also known as the Second war of Kashmir conflict. Kashmir conflict is most important and the oldest conflict between India and Pakistan since 1947. The first war was fought in 1947 it lasted for 1 year 2 months. In August 1965, around 27000 to 34000 Pakistani soldiers crossed The LOC disguised as Kashmiri and some local Kashmiris tipped Indian Army that some Pakistanis crossed LOC. 1 September 1965, Pakistani counterattacked India in the sense of capturing the Town of Akhnoor in Jammu (India).

On 6th September 1965, Indian army crossed the International Border from the west front , and started the official beginning of War. On 14 September 1965 India attacked Chawida(Pakistan) in order to capture it and on 16 September 1965 India captured Chawinda. The United States with Soviet Union hosted ceasefire negotiations in Uzbekistan, where both countries’s PM signed an agreement to withdraw their forces from each other’s territory before 25 February 1966. The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution and called for ceasefire on 22nd September 1965. However, the war ended that day, but both the sides had suffered huge losses of men and arm forces.
