NYKHAS UASTYRDZHI

If you are driving through the Ossetia military road you will surely notice this unique monument which will make you stand still and surely will make you wait for a longer period having a thought about it. The Nykhas Uastyrdzhi is a saint of men, and travelers and also a warrior. This is as if saint George having a watch on us and is waiting for the right period to come down so that he can help them who are in need of sorrow. According to the legend the son of Kabardian Muslim prince also known as St Hetag turned to Christianity from Muslim had to flee as his father wanted him to get converted back to Islam. The fathers guard when sent to get his son captured, Hetag prayed in an old fields and forest descended from the mountain and cover him. Having a look at this miracle the guards flee from the field  and he then consecrated the copse to Uastyrdzhi. This grove is covered under the 13 hectares of land made from ash and beech trees. Within few kilometers of the Hetage grove the Nykhas Uastyrdzhi is located. This is a monument which you will surely like to visit.
