Politics in India

Posted on at

India is a democratic country. Before independence of India, its future leaders chose the liberal democratic system as the administration system for India. We all people have certain rights. We all know actually, what it means in India by the word Democracy. Politics in India takes place within the framework of a constitution.  The constitution defines organization, power and the limitations of both central and state governments. As compared to other countries India has a large number of political parties. In addition, sometimes we can say that their aim shifts towards winning the elections from the vision to take the India to a high level. India has a multi-party system, where there are a number of national as well as regional parties. A regional party may gain a majority and rule a particular state. Elections are held at different levels. The two major election levels are at national level, after which the national government is established and at state level after which the state government is established. Elections are also held for city, town and village councils. As we talk about politics in India, we have to consider some issues at national level and some at regional level. With all problems in India, still it survives as a single state with democratic character.
