Here is what you need to know.. The proportion of Idli Rice and Urad Dal/Vigna mungo.
For 2 Cup rice take 1 cup of urad dal.
Soak rice and urad dal together early morning and grind them thin by evening. Leave them in a container overnight for fermentation. You can use this batter of idli very next day. If you are staying in cold region then I would go for 2 days of fermentation.
