Teen Use of Marijuana is On The Rise

Posted on at

The National Institute of Health has released this statement, "One popular myth is that marijuana is harmless, although science tells us that marijuana use by teens may negatively affect "brain development" and "impair" school and athletic performance. Teen use of marijuana is up compared to five years ago."

As of January 2014, twenty states have legalized marijuana medical use doctor recommended and two of those states have legalized it for recreational use as well. Those states are Colorado and Washington.

So how can marijuana still be illegal under federal law? The Justice Department has released this statement to clarify its position on the matter, "We will not challenge states' marijuana laws as long as they do not run counter to certain federal enforcement priorities, such as selling pot to minors."
