The Kargil War 1999

Kargil war started between 8 and 14 may 1999.  It is said that the preparation for the operation by Pakistan was started in 1998 itself. The attack of Pakistan back armed forces into region on the Indian side of LOC in Kargil The Indian forces campaign to keep away the invasion left approx 525 Indian soldiers dead and approx 1370 injured. By June 30 1999 Indian military were ready for a major high-altitude offensive attack. India moved 44 battalions of paramilitary troops to Kashmir and around 60 frontline aircraft for back up

Indian Army's offensive operation named Operation Vijay was launch on 26th May 1999. Indian military moved towards Pakistani troops positions with air cover provide by Air forces.

Operation Vijay in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir was a joint Infantry weaponry endeavor. It soon became clear that only huge and sustained arms could wipe out the intruders and break their spirit to fight.

The opening major ridgeline to collapse was Tololing in the Drass, which was captured after several weeks of harsh combating. The 155 mm average weapons and 105 mm Indian field guns in the straight firing role damaged all noticeable enemy and forced them to discard a number of positions.
