Kalmaegi storm paralyzes Hong Kong, Hainan

Strong storm is internationally known today 16/9 Kalmaegi landed on Hainan Island, southern China after swept through Hong Kong, where it disrupted flights, causing financial markets and sea ports must to close.

China's Xinhua news agency said, in Hainan Island, more than 90,000 people have been evacuated from the east coast of the island before making landfall on the morning of 16/9 at 9h40 local time. The local authorities have been notified preparedness for disaster relief operations.
The schools in the city of Haikou, capital of Hainan province, was closed and dozens of flights were canceled.

Airlines China Southern Airlines said it had canceled all flights to Haikou out. The ferry service to the mainland and vessels through the Strait of Quynh Son 30 km long between Hainan and the mainland has suspended operations. The port was closed.
