Kashmir : Love For Freedom

Posted on at

The love for freedom with which each and every Kashmiri is filled with is not new.

They have been struggling for freedom since the Mughal Rule.

In 1586,  Mughals entered Kashmir after being defeated twice by Kashmiri Forces. Eminent Leaders of Kashmir were arrested and some were killed.

As the mughal power consolidated in Srinagar, it was ,as a famous Kashmiri Poet says, the first time when young Kashmiris started throwing stones at the oppressors.

The resistance was such that the mughals have to build a strong wall around their Administrative Capital. They were shocked and horrified to see the bravery and such patriotism of the locals.

The boys throwing stones were called dilawars (bravehearted) and they coined a number of slogans which are still in use in their struggle against Indian rule.

Later on Kashmiris had to deal with Sikhs. The brutal Sikh Force uprooted them from their houses, their mosques were destroyed and they were forced to follow the cruel laws.

In 1865, the labour force of Kashmir raised voice against tax policy. The wanted to put an end to the exploitative tax system.Protesters were gunned down by the government.

From Mughals till Today Kashmiris have been fighting. They have lost millions and are ready to sacrifice more for the sake of independence and pride.

But its time to put a end to this and give peace a chance. Kashmir is a heaven and there must be no wars and unrest in a heaven. Now its the responsibility of Indian and Pakistani Governments to solve this matter in a peaceful manner. But,unfortunately, everyone is getting ready for a WAR....!
