Melbourne Animal Sanctuary - Kangaroos and Koalas!

Posted on at

Took a break from the Melbourne International Film Festival to accomplish my true goals in Australia. To meet the Kangaroos and Koala Bears! Needless to say, they were so happy to see me :)

I got too feed them.

I got to pet them.

I got to talk to them.

I got to draw them in their little moments, like when this guy was scratching his underarm.

Kangaroo wanted to see what I was drawing. Either that or just to sniff my sharpie marker.

Feeding the 'roos with my Auntie Anna.

Sketched a red kangaroo, these guys were much more muscularly built and tough looking.

The sleeping Koala!

This Koala's name was Benny, just like my cousin Ben who brought me to the sanctuary.

More sleeping, more sketching.

We weren't allowed to touch the Koalas like we could the Kangaroos, because this one was a male breeder with a grumpy demeanor, and the last person to touch and wake him got bit.

And our time was up.

Another quick sketch, and I got what I came for.

Me and my Auntie Anna.

Me and my cousin Ben.

And we finished off the excursion with lunch at a local winery.
