Purple Flower Ceremony is Now Formal

       Many ceremonies are held each year in different parts of Afghanistan like Red Flower picnic, Orange Flower, and Narcissus Flower and many other ceremonies one of which is now Purple Flower Ceremony in Parwan Province. In Parwan province Purple Flower Ceremony was approved as an official ceremony and became similar to other formal ceremonies in Afghanistan in a gathering where local authorities and Culture & Information minister were present. The first celebration of Purple Flower was held up in Parwan Province while Sayed Makhdum Rahin, Culture & Information minister, some other officials, poets and writers of the country were attending the feast; and from now on this ceremony is going to be held every year in spring intervals.

         Among addressing of other customs held in spring time, the minister who attended this celebration, said that now we officially celebrate Purple Flower Ceremony like that of other ceremonies as Red Flower ceremony in Balkh Province, Orange Flower and Narcissus Flower in Nangahar Province  and today it is kind of a landmark for this province. He further recounted about the Purple inundated hill located in Gol Qundi area in Parwan province and also believed that this hill has been an entertainment park for more than a century for the local and neighboring people.

        He talked about the plans of ministry of Culture and Information that would held another ceremony in Panjshir by the name of “Berry” and the ceremony of Grapes in Kohdaman. Gol Qundi hill is located in the western part of Charikar in Parwan province; and was named so by Bhaii Jan, an Afghan poet, in 1914.
