Why I'm NOT making a resolution for the New Year

Posted on at

Every year I find myself and many others making these unrealistic and silly resolutions which end up not being achieved which results in misery for the remainder of the year.

What am I going to do instead?

Do something new. Nothing in particular, nothing set in stone, but just try something new.

I did this a couple of years ago. I just said to myself , for next year I just want to do something different. Whether this is a change in hair colour, a new hobby etc. , just something new.

I signed myself up to Ice skating lessons last year and I did this for around 8 months before stopping due to the rink being refurbished. I accomplished something without feeling the pressure of "NY Resolution" to do so. I just said I wanted to do something different. No set time, no deadline, just something simple.

For 2015 I am going to do something new ... AGAIN. I want to brush up on my German speaking so I plan to enrol myself into evening German classes for January. It's different, it's new, no pressure, just me wanting to try something new.

I'm not one to try these new years diets and state that my aim is to join a gym etc because I know that I will quit within a few months of starting it. Would I like to lose weight for next year? Of course I would but I'm not pressuring myself to do it, I will do it when I want to and when I am READY to which is most important.

Are you setting yourself a goal or resolution for next year?
