Most of the land around a village is farmed. Much of the food we eat comes from farmland.
TYPES OF FARM
There are three main types of farm:
1- On arable farms, the farmer ploughs the land and grows crops, such as wheat, barley and potatoes and other vegetables.
2- On livestock farms, there are grassy fields where the farmer keep animals, such as sheep and cattle.
3- On mixed farms , the farmer grows crops and keep animals.
Lettuces, salad vegetables and tomatoes are grown on smaller farms called market gardens, near to the towns and cities.
