The Sims Mobile: Fun and Interactive Life Simulation Game

Posted on at

Does your phone have a lot of internal memory? Do you only have a few apps on your smartphone? Are you into simulation and creativity games? If yes why not read more about The Sims Mobile below and find out if you'd like to play it too.

♦  What is The Sims Mobile Game?  ♦

In the year 2000, Maxis and Electronic Arts (EA) came out with The Sims, a life simulation game that can be played on a computer. It became so popular that it eventually became a series of games. Other computer game versions came out one after the other, like The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4 and then The Sims FreePlay on mobile.

There are many game spin-offs as well. Watch the history of The Sims game series below.

Their latest mobile game is The Sims Mobile. This is a pretty new game. It was officially launched only on March 6, 2018 after it was announced last year.

According to an official statement Comicbook.com received:

In The Sims Mobile, we’ve dramatically increased the fidelity and quality of Sims and the various environments they play in.” said Creative Director, Brandon Gill. “Creating unique, completely customised Sims, building a dream home, and exploring exciting careers have always been tentpoles of The Sims franchise.

With The Sims Mobile, we’re able to bring players those time-loved features with new, highly detailed customisation options in Create-A-Sim and Build Mode. Players will find that new guided narratives and immersive social features give The Sims Mobile a unique blend of delightful gameplay experiences and social platform-inspired connections.

The Sims Mobile is available to download at the App Store and Google Play. It is free to play with an option to view ads for additional game items. It also allows in-game purchases should you decide to buy more things for your characters.

♦     The Review     ♦

I've only been able to play The Sims and The Sims 2 more than the rest of the games in the series. I enjoyed playing both in college. What I like about these games is that it simulates real life. You can also do interior designing while you customize your characters and get into relationships with other Sims. I've also tried The Sims FreePlay but I didn't like it that much.

Last month, I decided to look for new mobile games to play. Not knowing there's a new Sims game, I was pleasantly surprised to see The Sims Mobile. Of course I downloaded it and had fun playing with it for a month or so. I would play longer if I could. Let me share more about my experience below.

◙  The Gameplay

The gameplay is pretty easy. It's fun and uncomplicated. Each step you take is not hard at all. Just click some buttons and voila! I didn't need to watch any external tutorial to even play it. Of course at the start there are mini tutorials where they will tell you what to do and what will happen, etc. All I did was follow the steps and prompts to play and move along in the game.

The first thing you need to do when you download it is to create your own character. You can choose to create one by using the randomizer option or simply make one from scratch.

The above is the first character I created. (No, I won't show its name. Haha.)

At first my character was just living on its own in the almost empty house it had. There were very few furniture and appliances but the basics were already there. I then found out my Sim can get a job at a cafe. Hurray! Of course I recorded a short video of my character working there. You can watch it here.

Eventually as my level went up I was able to add another Sim. This time I created a guy character, James Ives. I customized everything again, from head to toe. Oh I love fully customized characters. Haha.

Next, I learned that I can add friends for my characters. It was easy to choose if the new acquaintance character would be a friend or lover. I never chose the rival or enemy option so don't ask me about it. Haha. Then I chose a social story for some Sims character acquaintances. Some I chose to be friends with James or my other Sim and others became their possible romantic partners.

Aside from Sims characters being friends with other Sims, players can add other players to be their game friends too. If in case you don't want to, you can also dismiss the friend request like on Facebook. You can even invite other people as new players in the game. Should you want to visit another Sim's house, you can only view it and then go back to your character location.

Anyway, below you'll see James is out on a date. Haha. Plus he looks different because I changed his appearance. I also changed my main character's hair and clothes. If you want to change how a Sim looks everyday, every week, or whenever you feel like it, you're free to do so anytime. You'll also gain some reward depending on what you do.

Each Sim can also go to parties. This is how they socialize aside from meeting a stranger on the street or at work. There are various parties you can attend and different ones you can start as well. I usually go to Foodie, Music or Wedding parties and sometimes Birthday parties too. I don't find it boring because there are various tasks to do and also some quests you can choose to complete or not.

How do you play the game? Just click click click. Wait and click, that's all you do. Design and customize your character, house and Sim life too. Click on the pink star bubbles and you should be able to use it to play. Each character will use up energy whenever they do anything in the game.

Cupcakes and cake slices can be earned from different tasks. These can be used as power ups so you can have more energy to play. No need to wait to have full energy when you use those two. Otherwise use the bed, toilet, shower and bathtub to get more energy.

What can your Sim do? Well there are three things you can accomplish as a Sim. To level up, you will need to do tasks in certain careers, hobbies or relationships. You can see the bluish level bar on the top right of your game screen. It will get filled up as you do more tasks.

Each major task requires interaction with other Sims. Once you complete any hobby, career or relationship level, you can move on to a new one. Each task will also earn you money or Simoleons and Sim Cash. Use those to buy new clothes, furniture/appliances or add new home items and rooms to your house, etc. To finish tasks quicker, buy some hobby or career items.

You can also choose the personality of your Sim. You can make one generous, another could be lucky, etc. Each character can have multiple combined aspects that make them who they are.

Unfortunately my characters haven't reached the baby making stage. I only got as far as having a Sim move out and leave a heirloom. I got shocked when someone asked my Sim to move in with their Sim. Who knew? Lol. I certainly didn't know it could happen then. At first I didn't want to let go of James, I mean, it's my character and I still wanted to play with it.

However with the request factor in the mix, I had to decide to let go of it. I could make a new character anyway. And so I did allow James to move out and got an heirloom for it. Huhu. I made a new guy character and turned it into his brother, Lance Ives.

At first it looked kinda geeky and I somehow felt it was gay. Weird because I felt like Lance should flirt with guys instead of girls. I tweaked Lance a bit more to make him look better. And I made him a DJ too. James is a Barista. My main character became a Fashion Designer (or glorified seamstress) but she was first a Barista then a Chef.

As for their hobbies, James cooks at home, Lance plays the guitar and my main character writes.

Meanwhile my female Sim also just got married before I uninstalled the game. Haven't even been able to buy a wedding bed and all the rest of the furniture collection. Why? Because my internal phone storage was always getting almost full. I can't blame it entirely on the game because I have plenty of other apps installed.

◙ The Overall Look and Feel

The Sim graphics is better than previous versions of course. Each Sim looks much cuter now. And you can also see their personality shine through the clothes they wear, their facial features, hair and other accessories they have.

The game environment also looks good. Don't expect smooth and perfect graphics because that would make the game heavier than it is. The buildings, parks and greenery look good enough for me. As your level goes up, your Sim can access more areas too. But of course even if you haven't reached the required level yet, character activities or events will let you go to locked locations. It gives you a preview of the higher level places. You will know what you can look forward to once you unlock it.

Also the Sims have their own language but the gameplay is in English. I saw other characters with Korean and Japanese letters as names so I'm sure the game is available worldwide.

The music and sound effects are also perfect for the game. I was expecting more EDM in the club though. Haha. Sad that I got a bit disappointed with the available music. Even with that small bump in the gameplay, for me it is still a fantastic and creative world to explore. There are many fun things in it for a Sim to do. life_simulation_game

◙ Latest Game Update

Before the update, there was a To Do List where you can earn rewards per task that you complete. Now the LlamaZoom Tasks are here to play, er, stay. Lol. Curious? Here, watch me play some part of the tasks. The sound is not part of the game since my phone can only record the visuals and not the sound.

Basically with the new update, you will be able to select a mix of tasks to claim rewards. It helps your character/s in leveling up their careers, hobbies or relationships. Also there's a new location called the Waterfront and there are more careers to choose from!

◙ Important Things To Know About The Game

1. You need an internet connection to play it.

If you don't have WiFi access anywhere then don't play The Sims Mobile. I haven't tried playing it using my phone data because I use it for work. It's always better to play these kinds of games with an internet connection anyway.

2. If there is a game update, you need to download it first before you can play again.

Before the LlamaZoom Tasks and other game update, I could not play the game at all. I had to delete other apps just to be able to download the update and play.

My phone has 16GB internal memory but it keeps going down to less than 100MB these days. Lol. If your phone's internal memory is bigger than mine and you don't have email and other work apps then have no worries about game updates.

3. Use a smartphone that can store app files in your micro SD card.

My Xiaomi Red4A is supposedly good for games but apparently not for saving files in an SD card. I have to root it and all that before I can do such. That's what other users are saying in the MIUI forum. I couldn't find any option for this game app to save on my micro SD card so I just uninstalled it.

My emails and other files are more important than playing games anyway. Haha. (Yeah I should write a different blog for my phone review.)

◙ Rating

I'm pretty happy with The Sims Mobile and it doesn't bore me at all. It's not a very repetitive game. Your creativity will always come up especially when customizing and decorating anything inside it. I love variety and randomness so this game is perfect.

Due to the storage problems while I played the game, I can rate it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. If I didn't have storage issues I'd probably rate it a 4.5 out of 5 stars. Maybe I should have read the game requirements but hey I'm still going to play it in the future, on a better smartphone. To be safe, let me just give it a final rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
